Miguel Diaz

Miguel was born in Tacloban City and studied Business Management and Mass Communication at Divine Word University of Tacloban. In 1977, he joined the school's theatre group where he became the group's workshop master for theatre arts and simultaneously underwent training in ballet, jazz, modern dance and Philippine folk dance with the Katulinian (Heritage) Dance Company. Miguel became one of the company's principal dancers and was soon assigned rehearsal master and co-choreographer. In 1985 he became Dance Assistant at the Academy of the Arts and Associate Artistic Director for Theatre Arts at the Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC). Miguel is a member of a double quarte singing group and his performance credits include, in dance, Katulinian Folk Dance Concert (1982), Canao (1982), Enkantada Ha Buscade (1983), Duk-Hawa (1983), Nutcracker Ballet (1985), and Tatlong Handog (1988). Musical performance credits include The Eight Wheel Drive Concert - Part I (1987), and Part II. In 1988 Miguel has the chance to stage and perform in his own one-man musical dance drama entitled Sketches for which he wrote the script, choreographed, and directed.
