Luoyong Wang

The Engineer (Broadway, 1st USA National Tour)

Luoyong Wang is thrilled to return to Broadway in Miss Saigon having performed the role of the Engineer on Broadway in early 1995 and in the first national tour in Chicago. Mr. Wang was born and raised in the People's Republic of China where at age 11 he began acting training at the Hubei Shi Yan Beijing Opera School. He received a B.A. from the Shanghai Drama Institute and an M.F.A. at Boston University. Regional credits: The Woman Warrior (world premiere - Berkeley Repertory); M. Butterfly (West Coast premiere - Oregon Shakespeare Festival); The King and I (Wheelock Theatre); Seattle Repertory, Center Theatre Group (LA), Huntington Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre and New York Four Sea Players. In China, he won the Shanghai New Drama Award for Best Actor for his work in Personal Film and television credits: Dragon (The life of Bruce Lee), Vanishing Son, Lin Zexu, The Story of Liaozai, and From the New World (Best Actor nomination, 95 P.R. China Fei Tian National TV Award). He has choreographed various productions in China and the U.S., including a national tour of M. Butterfly. Mr. Wang teaches theater at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Shanghai Drama Institute. He dedicates his work to his parents and Ding Ning, Liping, Qingwei and his daughter Olivia.
