Joanna Ampil

Kim (London, Sydney, UK Tour)

Joanna started singing at the age of 6. She entered several contests in Manila which included the Students Pop 90 which she won and also became the youngest ever finalist of the Voice of Asia competition. In 1992 she was asked to appear as a special guest Star at the Equinox in Manila, in a concert entitled Soft Touch & Music. She was chosen to play the lead role of Kim in 1993 and was thrilled to go to London to make her West End debut. When in England, Joanna appeared in many galas and concerts throughout the capital and was privileged to perform alongside Nigel Kennedy in Dreams of Children in Cities held at the Symphony Hall Birmingham. Television credits include London Tonight ITV3, Capital Woman ITV3 and Good Morning with Nick and Anne BBCl, she was invited by Joop Van Den Ende Productions in Amsterdam to perform in Televizerring Gala. Joanna had the chance to play the part of Eliza Doolittle during the Tribute to My Fair Lady/Miss Saigon's 2282nd legend performance becoming the longest running musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London. Joanna had her first taste of recording as she was chosen from all over the world to sing the role of Kim in the new complete symphonic recording of Miss Saigon which has just been released internationally. During her spare time in London, she studied English elocution and the Japanese martial art of Mugendo (kickboxing). She loves to compose inspirational songs and poems. Joanna is thrilled to re-create the role of Kim in Sydney and would like to dedicate her performances to all her loved ones, especially to the Lord Jesus Christ.
