Alan Muraoka

The Engineer (Broadway, Toronto, 1st USA National Tour)

Alan Muraoka comes directly from the first national tour of Miss Saigon where he played the role of "The Engineer." Mr. Muraoka began his association with Saigon on Broadway, at first understudying and then assuming the role of the Engineer. Other Broadway credits include the musical version of My Favorite Year at Lincoln Center, the musical version of Shogun, where he portrayed the villain, Lord Ishido; and Mail. National tour credits include M. Butterfly and two versions of Lincoln Center's Anything Goes, one directed by Jerry Zaks. Regional and stock credits include lead roles in M. Butterfly (Civic Center of Central Florida), The Boys Next Door (Stage West), The Dance and the Railroad (Stage West) and Christmas in Camp II (East West Players); featured roles in Man of La Mancha (Birmingham Theatre), Lutesong (Berkshire Theatre Festival), Mame (St. Louis MUNY), The Mesmerist (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park) and Mikado, Inc. (Papermill Playhouse). His TV appearances include "General Hospital," "The Tonight Show," "Santa Barbara," "America Works, America Sings" (Disney Channel) and "Square One TV." He is also featured in the romantic comedy It Could Happen To You written and directed by Andrew Bergman. Born in Southern California, Alan graduated from UCLA, where he received the Carol Burnett Musical Theatre Award. He would like to dedicated this performance to Herb, his family, especially his mother, Carol, and to the many who are fighting the brave battle against breast cancer.
